Established in 1983, GM Decorating Ltd continues to grow from strength to strength. From its origins carrying out painting, decorating and general maintenance, GM Decorating has expanded into the areas of Gas, Electrics, Refurbishment, Kitchen & Bathrooms and VOID works.

Liam Sweeney, Managing Direction, GM Decorating Ltd

After leaving the armed forces where he gained good leadership and management skills, Liam started a training scheme in painting and decorating. He progressed through different companies giving him hands on experience on various sites throughout the UK and abroad. Rising from tradesman to contract manager, Liam joined GM Decorating in 1990 and assisted in running the company. In 2004 he became the outright owner of GM Decorating after completing an NVQ Level 4 and he brought new vision to the company. He has increased its annual turnover from £250,000 to £2 million with scope for further improvement. Daniel Gray

Daniel joined our company in 2011 as a Senior Quantity Surveyor giving the company the benefit of over 25 years in the industry. Daniel started as an Apprentice Bricklayer working for a variety of construction companies and gaining a NVQ Level 2 in Brickwork and a lot of hands-on experience. His skills were quickly recognised and Daniel soon progressed through the roles of Site Foreman, Assistant Contract Surveyor and Commercial Manager whilst gaining qualifications in City & Guild in construction Craft Supplementary Studies, Higher National Certificate in Building Studies and CSCS Management Level. Daniel carries out our construction surveys and prices our contracts for us, he works closely with our MD, contractors and site management teams to ensure all works meet our high standards.

Sharon Bourne

Sharon joined our company in April 2013. With over 20 years office experience within Accounts and Administration, Sharon is a welcome addition to our team. Her qualifications include NVQ Level 3 in Accounting and Cert HE in Social Sciences. Sharon handles all our invoices and statements; with an excellent knowledge of SAGE Sharon also keeps all our accounts in order. Sharon works closely with our clients and contractors keeping payments up to date and monitoring the value on our contracts to ensure they are completed within deadlines.

Emma Sweeney

Emma returned to our company in 2014 after travelling around Australia and South East Asia. She originally joined our company at age 17 and has worked for us periodically for the last 6 years. With qualifications in Sage 50 Account, IOSH, Business Studies and ICT, Emma is our Business Development Administrator and Project Coordinator. She also has previous experience in Customer Services and Promotional Sales from working in the Gambling Industry. She handles our KPI reports alongside all marketing material and project tracking. She is PA to the Managing Director and Senior QS and handles all basic office admin along with liaising with our clients and senior site management teams.

Phil Parker

Phil has worked for the company for the last few years and is our qualified NICEIC manager. He holds a CSCS card, NVQ Level 3 in Principles, Practices and Legislation for the Initial Verification of Electrical Installations and is currently training with us to become a Site Manager. He has over five years' site experience and valuable customer service skills that make him a good point of contact for customers.

Rob Walker

Rob has worked for the company since 2014 and has worked his way up from being a Site Storeman to Project Purchaser to a Trainee Site Manager. He is currently working towards his SMSTS and is currently assisting the Senior QS on various sites in the South East area. Rob has a degree in Business Studies and two years' site experience.

GM Decorating's Tradesmen

Our tradesmen are always required to meet our high standards. To ensure these are met, all operatives are assessed against GM Decorating’s detailed criteria. We ensure they have sufficient experience as well as full compliance with our health and safety policy.

To meet this, the operatives must have passed the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Health & Safety examination and hold the full Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) card for their specified trade and grade.

On commencement of each project, our highly skilled and qualified team is selected for the client to ensure that a first class service will always be given. Where necessary GM Decorating will aid and guide tradesmen through their NVQ Assessment in order to further their skills and qualifications.
